Maruti's Upcoming Unique 7-Seater

Maruti Suzuki is strategically positioning itself in the 7-seater segment with various offerings. Currently, in the affordable category, it has the Ertiga/XL6 duo, and in the higher segments, it features the Invicto. The brand is also in the process of developing a 7-seater variant of the Grand Vitara. However, the latest addition to its lineup will be an electric 7-seater, codenamed YMC.

Key Details:
1. Development Status: Maruti has initiated work on the electric 7-seater, codenamed YMC, which will be based on the 27PL architecture, shared with the upcoming eVX model.
  2. Launch Schedule: The production version of YMC is anticipated to be released approximately a year and a half after the eVX, placing its launch in the second half of 2026.
  3. Shared Specifications: While specific details about the YMC are limited, it is expected to share specifications with the eVX, which is likely to offer two battery pack options – 40kWh and 60kWh, with an estimated range of 500 km on the 60kWh variant. Shared components, such as features and motors, may contribute to cost-effectiveness.
  4. Maruti's 7-Seater Lineup: YMC is part of Maruti's strategy to introduce three new 7-seater models in the Indian market. Alongside the Grand Vitara-based 7-seater expected in 2025, Maruti is also working on a more affordable 7-seater positioned below the Ertiga, aiming to diversify its offerings in the growing 7-seater market.

Maruti's comprehensive approach to the 7-seater segment signals its intention to provide diverse options across different price points, meeting the varied needs of consumers in this category.
