2024 Honda City Hatchback unveiled with updates.

Following its debut last month the refreshed Honda City hatchback has been showcased at the ongoing Bangkok International Motor Show 2024. While minor exterior changes have been made the updated model incorporates new features aimed at extending the lifespan of the current generation. This update aligns with the refreshed City midsize sedan which is also available in Thailand.

Externally the 2024 Honda City hatchback receives a sharper chromed-out bar with a new mesh pattern. The revised front bumper features a new fog lamp garnish and honeycomb mesh for the lower air inlet in the RS variant along with an aggressive diffuser. Notably the bumper section and rear undergo significant changes in the non-RS variant to provide clear differentiation.

In Thailand the updated City hatch is offered in five trim levels including S+ SV and RS with prices ranging from 599 000 baht (approximately Rs. 13.75 lakh) to 749 000 baht (approximately Rs. 17.20 lakh). These variants are powered by a 1.0L inline three-cylinder VTEC turbocharged petrol engine delivering a maximum power output of 122 PS at 5 500 rpm and 173 Nm of torque at 2 000 to 4 500 rpm.

This powertrain is mated to a CVT automatic transmission. Additionally the strong hybrid e:HEV variant is introduced in the new SV trim along with the RS grade. The former is priced at 729 000 baht (approximately Rs. 16.74 lakh) while the latter costs 799 000 baht (approximately Rs. 18.35 lakh). The e:HEV hybrid variant retains Honda's Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) hybrid system.

The system includes a primary electric traction motor generating 109 PS and 253 Nm of torque transmitting power through a single-speed transmission. Moreover a 1.5L Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine serves as a generator efficiently recharging the battery and ensuring smooth operation of the hybrid drivetrain.

This setup produces 98 PS at 5 600 to 6 400 rpm and 127 Nm at 4 500 to 5 000 rpm. Notable features include new USB-C charging ports at the rear of the hybrid Honda Sensing as standard enabling Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) Road Departure Mitigation System Auto High-Beam (AHB) new electronic parking brake and more.
