The Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar has imposed traffic restrictions on NH-16 for a period of three months from October 31 to January 31, 2024. The decision is a response to the ongoing construction of the flyover spanning from Cosmopolis Chhak to Patrapada. From in front of JK Tire shop to Cosmopolis Chak within Bhubaneswar.

During this period, all vehicles going from Bhubaneswar towards Khurda will not be allowed to use NH-16 starting from Cosmopolis Chak. Instead, they will be rerouted via the service road from Cosmopolis Chak to Patrapada, where they can turn right to reach NH-16.

On the contrary, vehicles going from Khurda towards Bhubaneswar will be redirected through the service road located opposite JK Tire shop, opposite Cosmopolis Chak, and will turn right to join NH-16.
