Additional 25-km of Samruddhi Mahamarg to open on March 4 in Maharashtra.

A significant 25-km segment of the Samruddhi Mahamarg situated between Bharvir and Igatpuri town is expected to open around March 4 according to an official from the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC).

This particular stretch of the expressway comprises a combination of infrastructure elements including a flyover bridges VOB (Viaduct Over Bridge) a pair of 300-meter twin tunnels and a crossing of the old Mumbai-Nashik Highway. The complexity of these components makes it one of the most intricate sections of the entire expressway as highlighted by the MSRDC.

Originally slated for a mid-February opening the timeline has been revised to March 4 due to some remaining minor works as mentioned by the official.

The Samruddhi Mahamarg a sprawling 701-km corridor connecting Nagpur to Mumbai currently has 600 km of expressway open to traffic extending from Nagpur to Bharvir in Igatpuri. This segment was inaugurated in two phases with the 520-km stretch between Nagpur and Shirdi inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December 2022. The remaining section between Shirdi and Bharvir was inaugurated by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in May 2023.
