Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has introduced a new automatic variant for the Rumion MPV today. Previously, the Rumion G was only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox, but now customers have the option to choose a 6-speed automatic transmission in this trim. Priced at Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom), this Automatic MPV is Rs 73,000 cheaper than the top-spec V AT variant and Rs 1.40 lakh more expensive than its manual counterpart (G MT).

The Toyota Rumion is available in three trims – S, G, and V. While the automatic gearbox option was previously limited to the base-spec S and top-spec G trims, it is now available across all variants. Additionally, Toyota has reopened bookings for the Rumion CNG variant. Last September, the company temporarily halted bookings for the Rumion CNG due to overwhelming demand.

Essentially a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, the Rumion is the result of the global partnership between Toyota and Suzuki. The Rumion features a revamped front bumper with a larger grille, resembling the Innova, while the Ertiga sports a slightly smaller front grille with chrome trims. Both MPVs have differently designed lower bumper and fog lamp housings. At the rear, there are no changes except for the logo replacement; both retain the same bumper design.

Moving inside, the Toyota Rumion and Maruti Ertiga share the same dashboard layout and feature set, including a 7-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Arkamys sound system, automatic climate control, and a three-row, seven-seat layout. Safety features include four airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability program, and seat belt reminders for all occupants.

The Rumion is powered by the same 1.5-litre K Series petrol engine that produces 102.4 hp and 137 Nm of torque. It is available with a 5-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The CNG variant produces 87.83 hp and 121.5 Nm of peak torque and is only available with a 5-speed manual transmission.
