Preview of Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor Ahead of Launch

Ahead of its price announcement on April 3 Toyota has released the first set of teaser images for the Taisor compact SUV. According to dealer sources deliveries for the Taisor are expected to commence by late April or early May.

The Taisor will be the smallest SUV in Toyota's lineup in India. It is anticipated to share many similarities with the Maruti Fronx with subtle design differences such as a slightly different texture for the front grille mildly redesigned front and rear bumpers a new alloy wheel design and other cosmetic enhancements.

Inside the cabin minor shade differences in the interior trim and upholstery are expected to differentiate the Urban Cruiser Taisor from its Maruti counterpart. The SUV is set to feature a 9-inch infotainment screen 360-degree camera heads-up display and other similar features and comforts seen in the Fronx.

In terms of powertrain the entry-level 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine from the Fronx is expected to be retained. Additionally sources suggest that the 1.0-liter Boosterjet petrol engine will also be available in the Urban Cruiser Taisor. A CNG-powered variant is also anticipated to be introduced later.

Competing directly with the Fronx the Urban Cruiser Taisor will also go up against a range of compact SUVs including the Nissan Magnite Renault Kiger Tata Nexon Kia Sonet Hyundai Venue and the upcoming updated Mahindra XUV300.
