Daily Traffic Congestion near RTO Chowk

Road construction taking place in front of the Regional Transport Office (RTO) on Raja Bahadur Mill Road has been causing daily traffic congestion, prompting commuters to urge the civic authorities to prioritize completion, especially as it serves as a crucial link to Pune railway station.

Only one lane is open to vehicles, leading to slow movement. Commuters traveling towards Raja Bahadur Mill Road reported delays, both from CoEP-Sangam bridge towards RTO Chowk and from Juna Bazaar Chowk towards RTO.

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials stated that the work is expected to be completed in the next few days. A senior official mentioned, We are currently repairing the road and laying paver blocks on certain sections. The contractor has been instructed to expedite the work and allocate maximum space for vehicle movement.

Regular commuter Shankar Landge expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of the road near RTO, stating that the uneven surface poses risks to commuters. He added, Despite resurfacing the road after Metro works, the quality of work is subpar.

Sundar Pote, another commuter heading towards Pune station, highlighted how the ongoing work at RTO Chowk was affecting traffic flow at Juna Bazaar Chowk, especially during peak hours. He urged PMC authorities to complete the work promptly.

Additionally, commuters noted that ongoing road works in various parts of the city were causing disruptions. Girish Sane mentioned the dug-up lane near Garware High School on Karve Road, which has remained unfinished for several days. Furthermore, the work along the riverside road near Deccan Gymkhana has been ongoing for months, causing inconvenience to commuters.
