India's first hydrogen-powered car project will be funded by a state: CM

According to chief minister Eknath Shinde, there have been fruitful conversations with the American Triton Electric Vehicles (EV) firm to launch this project, and there will be a significant investment made in the state to produce hydrogen-powered vehicles. Triton EV's creator and CEO, Himanshu Patel, met CM Shinde on Thursday at his "Varsha" home. Uday Samant, the minister of industries, was also present.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would be inked in this respect at the WEF in Davos in January 2023, according to Shinde, and this business will be given all the facilities required to launch an industry in Maharashtra. Maharashtra would launch such a scheme for hydrogen cars first in the nation, according to CM Shinde.

According to representatives, Triton EV works on both hydrogen and electric vehicles.

Patel and CM Shinde held a thorough conversation about Triton's intention to launch a hydrogen project and manufacturing facility for hydrogen-powered automobiles in Maharashtra. Cars powered by hydrogen are safer, more affordable, and more fuel-efficient than electric vehicles. In nations including England, Germany, China, and America, hydrogen cars are in use; in Maharashtra, it will be able to run government buses on hydrogen.

Hydrogen manufacturing projects and other businesses necessary for these projects would also commence in Maharashtra if Triton begins the hydrogen car project in the state, bringing in additional investment and thousands of direct and indirect employment prospects. According to a statement from the CM's office, Triton will sign an MoU with Maharashtra in Davos in January 2023, and the business has a number of alternatives for where to launch the industry, including Pune, Auric (Aurangabad), and Nagpur. The CM stated that several sectors in the state will profit from the Nagpur-Mumbai Prosperity Highway, which PM Narendra Modi will launch on December 11.
