Mahindra trademarks names for new e-SUVs.

Mahindra & Mahindra has applied for trademarks for five new names in India possibly intended for their upcoming electric SUV range. These names include XUV 7XO XUV 5XO XUV 3XO and XUV 1XO following a straightforward naming convention with the XUV prefix and an 'X' in the middle. While these names adhere to the manufacturer's traditional naming strategy their registration is pending as is customary in the automotive industry.

There seems to be a discernible pattern in these names. For instance the XUV 7XO could signify the production version of the XUV.e8 concept based on the XUV700 ICE platform or an EV derivative of the existing XUV700. Similarly the XUV 3XO may represent an electric variant based on the ICE XUV300 platform.

Of particular interest is the XUV 1XO as Mahindra currently lacks an SUV below the XUV300. Considering their past success with micro SUVs like the KUV100 Mahindra might introduce an electric micro SUV under the XUV 1XO moniker.

Speculation surrounds the XUV 5XO possibly indicating an electric version of a future XUV500 successor. However concrete details remain elusive and we await further developments.

Realistically these names could be designated for Mahindra's XUV.e and BE electric vehicle ranges featuring dedicated skateboard EV platforms or potentially slotting below them as part of the XUV XO range.
