Prepayment service fees would be collected at public EV charging stations!!!

The updated Consolidated Guidelines and Standards for Charging Infrastructure for Electric Vehicles (EVs), dated January 14, 2022, have been made public by the Ministry of Power.

According to the published change, all public EV charging stations across the nation must offer the option of prepaid service charge collection (service fee) with discounts for daytime rates and solar hours.

A committee under the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) will advise the state governments on the cap on service costs that should be assessed at these EV charging stations. The committee will also suggest a service price based on the "time of day" and a reduction for billing during the sun's peak hours.

India is attempting to hasten the uptake of electric cars. In order to make it easier for consumers to own an EV, a number of states, organizations, and car manufacturers are trying to put up EV charging stations. The Delhi government revealed last month that 1,000 charging stations had been deployed as part of its one window service in less than a year. In the next three years, the Delhi government plans to establish 18,000 such sites. In November 2021, the EV charging single window facility was launched.

To encourage electric mobility in the state, West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) has also invited interest in establishing charging infrastructure for electric vehicles through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP). 205 charging or battery-swapping stations will be built, according to official sources at the state-run agency.

Mahindra, MG Motor, Tata Motors, and Ather Energy are just a few of the automakers attempting to install EV charging stations in cities and on roads. To allow its forthcoming EVs to use the Charge+ Zone's around 2,5000 charge outlets, Mahindra teamed with the electric car charging business late last month.
