42 transit services in Tamil Nadu are now contactless.

Chennai :Since the state transportation department recently expanded its digital services, you no longer need to visit a Regional Transport Office (RTO) to make adjustments to your driver's license or obtain extra copies of your car registration certificate.

42 distinct services have all been made contactless.

Getting extra motor vehicle paperwork or no-objection certificates (NOC) is one example of this when moving automobiles to other districts or states. Logging onto the Parivahan portal of the government is all that is required to submit the applications and pay the required fees.

On April 28, orders were issued in this regard, and it is anticipated that they will take effect this week throughout Tamil Nadu.

This will lessen bribes at RTOs as well as the influence of brokers and agents, according to transportation campaigner R Rengachari.

The government should also follow through on its vow to assign transport personnel to government e-seva centers. Those who are unfamiliar with online application procedures will find it to be of great assistance.

The majority of states have successfully implemented dealer-point vehicle registration, a crucial advance on the digital front, but Tamil Nadu still hasn't done so.

Private car dealers may issue registration certificates (RCs) under the Motor Vehicle Rules.

However, in Tamil Nadu, in order to obtain the documentation as part of the registration process, one must submit the car to the relevant RTO.

Just like purchasing a television or refrigerator, purchasing a car or two-wheeler should be possible following payment to the dealer. It is not necessary to bring a new car to an RTO for an inspection before obtaining a registration certificate, according to S Rajvel, state chair of the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association.

He continued by saying that if the new regulations are put into place, it will save a lot of time, eliminate the need for paperwork at several points, and—most importantly—involve no bribes.
