Pune: Sudhir Mehta, chairman of the city's Pinnacle Industries, a manufacturer of auto components, and its fully-owned electric mobility company Eka said that the company is getting ready to launch its "indigenous" E9 bus with a private fleet operator in September and is also getting ready to submit bids for government transport utility tenders.

Mehta further stated that the business is in the process of preparing a new facility in Pitampur, Madhya Pradesh, for the production of these buses. The unit would be operational in about nine months and have a capacity to produce 300 buses monthly.

But currently, 95% of electric buses are bought by governmental organisations. We are aiming for the Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) procurement for 50,000 buses that is now being floated as we are now qualified to compete in bids, Mehta added.
