New Delhi: The largest commercial vehicle maker in India, Tata Motors, revealed on Thursday that Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation has placed an order for 921 electric buses (BMTC). Tata Motors will provide, operate, and service 12-metre electric buses for 12 years as per the contract under the bigger tender by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), the manufacturer stated in a release.

The Tata Starbus is an indigenously produced vehicle with best-in-class features and exceptional design created for environmentally friendly and enjoyable travel, claims the manufacturer. We are pleased to confirm the order of 921 electric buses to Tata Motors, said G Sathyavathi, managing director of the BMTC. This purchase is crucial for Bengaluru's expanding requirement for sustainable, clean urban mass transportation. The BMTC is excited to launch contemporary electric buses that will draw the most customers for environmentally friendly public transportation.

In the past 30 days, West Bengal Transport Corporation (WBTC) and Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) have each placed orders with Tata Motors for 1,180 and 1,500 electric buses, respectively.
