Autos with automatic transmission:

Along with manual transmissions, the desire for automatic gearboxes is now rising among Indian automobile buyers. Companies will be required to provide an automatic transmission option, even in low-cost automobiles. According to various demands and price ranges, the market offers various automatic transmissions. In India, automatic gearboxes come in four primary categories: AMT, CVT, DCT, and torque converter.

Let's investigate the distinctions between them.

1. Automatic Manual Transmission (AMT):

Automatic Manual Transmission is referred to as AMT. The most affordable automatic gearbox is this one. Although an actuator controls the clutch and gear shifting, it functions similarly to a manual gearbox. It costs between 50,000 and 60,000 more rupees than a manual transmission. Compared to other automatic gearboxes, it is not as smooth. As a result, you could occasionally feel tremors. Cars like the Maruti Alto, Baleno, Tata Tiago, and Tata Nexon employ it.

2. Convert torque:

This is an outdated automatic transmission technique. To shift gears, a hydraulic fluid connection is used rather than a clutch. A very smooth driving experience is provided. However, this arrangement is rather large and requires substantial upkeep.

3. Continually Variable Transmission (CVT):

This automated gearbox's unique feature is the absence of gears. It comprises a belt that is fastened to two different-sized pulleys. The engine's crankshaft is linked to one end of the pulley, while the wheel shaft is attached to the other. In comparison to the manual gearbox, it costs Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.30 lakh more.

4. Dual-clutch transmission (DCT):

Due to the twin clutch in this automatic transmission, the gear change is rapid. They operate in a manner akin to an AMT gearbox. It does, however, have two sub-transmissions as opposed to one. The odd-numbered gears (1,3,5,7) are handled by one clutch, while the even-numbered gears are handled by the other clutch (2,4,6). As a result, gears shift swiftly. It costs Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 1.50 lakh more than a manual transmission.
