RTO Jammu Conducts School Bus Safety Audit

The Motor Vehicle Department, led by Rajinder Singh Tara, Transport Commissioner, KAS, and Pankaj Bagotra, RTO KAS Jammu, conducted a road safety audit of the school buses of JK Public School Kunjwani on Tuesday.

This safety audit follows a circular issued by the RTO Jammu regarding the safety of school buses in the region, prompting proactive measures to address potential risks.

A surprise inspection of the school buses was conducted by the RTO Jammu team, consisting of ARTO (Hq) Rehana Tabassam, MVI Surinder Kumar, Jagandeep Singh, AMVI Amanish, and MVTA Taranjot Ta. The team checked for seat belt usage by drivers, availability of first aid kits, emergency exits, fitness certificates, driving licenses, overall maintenance, and insurance of the buses, in adherence to road safety regulations.

During the event, ARTO emphasized the importance of establishing road safety clubs in schools to raise awareness among students about road safety.

The team also conducted an awareness program on road safety rules, highlighting the importance of wearing seat belts, using headlights, avoiding over-speeding, and the necessity of attendants in buses for toddlers. They emphasized strict adherence to road safety rules in light of the rising number of accidents and fatalities. The program was attended by approximately 59 drivers and helpers of the school buses. Similar safety audits were conducted at KC International School, Jodhamal, and Delhi Public School Jammu.

Director of JK Educational Society, Shashi Chaudhary, and School Principal, Rajesh Rathore, assured the transport authorities that JK Public School prioritizes the safety and security of its students. They pledged to fully comply with road safety rules in the future as well.
