There will be charging facilities for electric vehicles in the more than 500 residential complexes with more than 25 flats that are now under development.

As part of its efforts to encourage the usage of EVs, the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has made it essential for residential structures with at least 25 flats to include one charging station. In a structure with 100 apartments, there will be four EV charging points.

Previously, installing EV charging stations in the buildings was optional. The NMC's town planning division, which oversees the city's approval of construction proposals, has mandated that any new structures have accommodations for EV charging stations.

Executive engineer of the town planning department Sanjay Agrawal stated, “We will verify if the buildings have installed EV charging stations to assist the occupants while issuing the building completion certificates. In exchange for their installing the EV charging stations, we are approving the development plans. Roughly 500 building projects, each including more than 25 apartments, are now being built in the city, he stated."

Only if EV charging stations are set up on the property will we give building completion certificates.

The sale of electric two-wheelers and four-wheelers has increased in the city, according to Jayesh Thakkar, senior office-holder of the National Real Estate Development Council (Naredco), Nashik.
