60 Mumbai Auto-Taxi Drivers Pledge Organ Donation at RTO Awareness Event.

The gathering of auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers at Wadala RTO became the focal point of attention as NGO Project Mumbai launched an organ donation and pledge drive on Thursday. After hearing heart-touching stories of families whose lives were saved because of organ donors, around 60 drivers came forward to pledge their organs.

Shishir Joshi, CEO and Founder of Project Mumbai, appreciated these auto and taxi drivers and informed that 60 of them signed the pledge to donate their organs.

During the programme, some speakers shared personal experiences of losing family members due to unavailability of organs, while others gave inspiring accounts of how their loved ones were saved because they were able to secure organ donors.

The initiative was organized with the help of Vinay Ahire, a senior official of the RTO.

This campaign will reach truck drivers in the coming days. Under this ongoing campaign, the Transport Department has started the process of printing the names of organ donors on the driving license.

Project Mumbai is running this campaign in collaboration with various RTOs in Mumbai, and they plan to extend this initiative to schools, colleges and corporate organizations.
