In the face of rising fuel prices and consumer complaints about increased charges across the country, Uber India has announced a 10% increase in existing trip pricing in Bengaluru.
According to sources, the trip rates have been raised in response to driver complaints. The current diesel price in Bengaluru is 94.78 per litre, while the current petrol price is 111.09 per litre.
Nitish Bhushan, Uber India and South Asia's head of central operations, stated: "We are listening to driver input and recognise that the recent surge in gasoline prices is generating worry. To help drivers cope with the effect of this increase, we've increased the rate in Bengaluru by 10%. We will continue to monitor fuel price changes in the coming weeks and will take additional actions as warranted."
Earlier last week, the taxi aggregator service raised travel prices in Delhi National Capital Region (NCR) by 12%. Bhushan went on to say, "We are listening to motorist comments and recognise that the recent surge in gasoline costs is generating worry. To help drivers cope with the effect of rising gasoline prices, Uber has boosted trip fees in Delhi NCR by 12%. We will continue to monitor gasoline price changes in the coming weeks and will take additional actions as warranted."
Ola is also said to be aiming to raise its existing trip prices, though no official confirmation has been provided.
