TVS Motors has introduced its much-awaited electric scooter, the X, which enters the market as the most expensive electric scooter in India with prices starting from Rs 2.50 lakh. The model brings several innovative features to the Indian electric scooter landscape.
Making a mark of its own, the TVS X is the first electric scooter in the country to be equipped with single-channel ABS, which enhances braking safety. It runs on a 4.4kWh battery and offers an impressive range of 140 km on a single charge. The X offers versatile charging options, including a Smart X Home Rapid Charger that can recharge the battery from 0-50% in just 50 minutes with an optional 3KW Fast Charger add-on. A portable 950W charger that charges up to 80% in 4 hours and 30 minutes is available for Rs 16,275 (including GST).
Underneath its sleek design, this configuration of TVS ensures brisk acceleration, with the scooter reaching 0 to 40 kmph in just 2.6 seconds and a top speed of 105 kmph. The X includes regenerative braking as well as three riding modes - Xtride, Xtride and Xenonic.
Setting it apart, the X gets a 10.25-inch TFT display, which is adjustable for the convenience of the rider. It offers Bluetooth connectivity for music and navigation, and while stationary, riders can enjoy entertainment through the PlayTech system. Enhanced features include reverse assist, cruise control and hill-hold functionality.
Taking design cues from the acclaimed Creon concept showcased at Auto Expo 2018, the TVS X offers a distinctive presence. It moves away from the traditional floorboard layout by adopting a design where the spine of the frame stays in place. A rare split-seat arrangement and 19 liters of storage under the seat add to its appeal.
Despite its premium features, the TVS X is priced at Rs 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom) and is ineligible for the FAME-II subsidy. Bookings have begun, and deliveries will begin in November 2023, initially in Bengaluru, followed by a nationwide rollout by March 2024. Early buyers will get a complimentary smartwatch and a 'curated concierge' package worth Rs 18,000.
