Residents criticize Kovai Corporation for poor road construction at GV Residency.

Residents of GV Residency in Coimbatore are expressing strong dissatisfaction towards the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) due to the poor condition of GV Residency Road in Ward 60, East Zone. The road serves as an important link between two major national highways, Trichy Road and Avinashi Road, which carries heavy traffic daily. However, it has been in poor condition for several months.

Residents have reported that a large part of the 2 km long stretch from Fun Mall to Perks Arch is in serious disrepair. The patchwork done by the civic body has worsened the situation, resulting in uneven footpaths and numerous potholes. Due to the poor condition of the road, residents are facing a lot of inconvenience.

A significant factor contributing to road deterioration is the frequent movement of heavy vehicles, including those headed to the RTO-ground for operations such as FC, registration and brake inspection. Residents have been requesting to shift the RTO-ground to some other location, but no action has been taken so far.

Responding to the question, an official from the engineering section of CCMC said that the road pavement work in GV Residency will start soon, patchwork will be done to temporarily fix the potholes. He mentioned that RTO officials have identified a new location for the activities of their department, but are yet to receive confirmation.
