If you drive a two-wheeler or a four-wheeler and require a licence, you do not need to go to the Regional Transportation Office (RTO) or stand in line. The Central Government has changed the requirements for obtaining a driver's licence such that a driving test is no longer required.

The rules for getting a driver's licence have been changed by the Union Ministry of Roads and Motorways.

New Driving License Regulations in 2022

The new regulations will go into effect on July 1, 2022. Only private driving centres, either operated by the state transportation authority or the Central government, are permitted under this provision. These centres will be valid for five years before needing to be renewed again.

There is no requirement to take a driving test in order to receive a driver's licence.
