Ready For EV fast-charging infrastructure establish at 1,000 locations across Karnataka.

A 10-minute fast-charge gives Ather's 450X electric scooter 15 kilometers of range.

Ather Energy has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Karnataka's ESCOMs (Electric Supply Companies) to install 1,000 fast chargers for electric two-wheelers across the state. As part of this agreement, The state-owned power transmission and distribution company ESCOM will serve as the nodal agency for all support to the implementing agency and all government agencies will work with ESCOMs to share available space for these fast-charging stations, Which will be set up by Ather Energy. This announcement is part of Ather Energy's bigger ambition to install 5,000 fast chargers for electric vehicles in India by 2025.

Tarun Mehta, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Co-founder of Ather Energy, tweeted the news, claiming that he came into a meeting with Karnataka Chief Minister (CM) Basavaraj Bommai with the intent of introducing the brand and walked out with a joint MoU relating to the establishment of fast-charging infrastructure.

"We are excited to engage with the Karnataka government and grateful to Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai for his quick action, supportand commitment to establishing a state-wide network of charging stations. One of the most essential variables in driving EV adoption is a solid charging network. Karnataka has been in the forefront of EV development and this would strengthen its position " , Mehta remarked after sharing the news on Twitter.

At the moment, Ather has 58 fast-charging stations (and four showrooms) spread across Karnatakaas well as about 300 fast-charging Ather Grid Points spread across 28 cities across the country.

Later in 2022, A second Ather plant (located in Hosur) will open, with a total annual manufacturing capacity of 280,000 electric scooters. With the addition of this new plant, Ather Energy's total yearly production capacity will increase to 400,000 units, About four times the start-present up's capacity of 120,000 units.

Initially based in Bengaluru, Ather Energy is now present in 24 locations across India with aspirations to open 150 experience centers in 100 cities by March 2023. Ather is already partnering with Hero MotoCorp to enable India's biggest two-wheeler manufacturer adopt its fast-charging technology into Hero's future electric two-wheelers after opening up the IP on its fast-charging connector.
