Odisha Issues Notification To Provide Subsidies To Buyers Of Electric Vehicles.

The Odisha government announced on Monday that buyers of Electric Vehicles (EVs) will be eligible for incentives under the Odisha Electric Vehicle Policy-2021, which will last through December 31, 2025.

The subsidy money will be deposited to the recipient's bank accounts by the respective Regional Transport Office (RTO) where the vehicle is registered/shall be registered, according to the announcement issued by the Odisha Commerce & Transport Department.

According to the announcement, the maximum subsidy for purchasing two-wheelers will be Rs 5000. Buyers of three-wheeler EVs would receive a subsidy of Rs 10,000, while buyers of four-wheelers will receive a subsidy of Rs 50,000. The subsidy will be available beginning September 1, 2021.

The Transport Commissioner, with the assistance of National Informatics Centre (NIC)/(OCAC) Odisha Computer Application Centre, will create a dedicated Portal to track all information pertaining to EV sales, crediting of purchase incentives, loan subsidies for the purchase of EVs, and so on.

Odisha Govt has issued the Odisha Electric Vehicle Policy, 2021 on the advise of National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog) in order to encourage the rapid adoption of electric vehicles in the state.

The State Government has suggested a number of incentives for customers, makers of Electric Vehicles (EVs), Batteries, and Charging Stations within the policy guidelines, which will be provided by several Stakeholder Departments.

As a first move, the Odisha Commerce & Transport Department has exempted all sorts of Electric Vehicles from registration fees and Motor Vehicle Taxes.
