KPIT, a locally produced hydrogen fuel cell bus, was unveiled in Pune by the CSIR.

Pune: Union Minister Jitendra Singh debuted a domestically produced hydrogen fuel cell bus on Sunday. The vehicle was created by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the business KPIT Limited.

The "Hydrogen Vision" of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to the Union Minister of State for Science and Technology at the event, intends to make the nation "atmanirbhar" (self-reliant) in clean energy while also achieving climate change targets and generating jobs in the industry.

Singh was reported in a statement as stating that the fuel cell, which uses hydrogen and air to generate energy to power the bus and produces only water as waste, may be the most environmentally beneficial means of transportation.

According to the statement, there are over a million diesel buses operating on long-distance routes in India, and each one produces an average of 100 tonnes of CO2 every year.

In a statement, Singh was quoted as saying that the fuel cell, which generates only water as waste and uses hydrogen and air to generate electricity to power the bus, may be the most ecologically friendly mode of transportation.
