Jeep is set to introduce more affordable diesel automatic variants of the Jeep Compass in India, including a 4X2 AT model, which will cater to customers who prefer an automatic transmission without 4X4 capabilities. The company currently offers automatic transmission only in its top-spec 4X4 variant. These new variants are aimed at expanding the customer base of the Compass.
The price of the Limited variant of Compass 4X4 AT currently starts at Rs 29.84 lakh in India. Additionally, the Model S variant offers automatic transmission option at a price of Rs 32.07 lakh.
The updated Compass will come in five trims: Sport, Longitude, Longitude+, Limited and Model S. The base Sport trim will offer a diesel manual drivetrain, followed by the Longitude variant with both 2WD manual and 9-speed automatic options. Features like panoramic sunroof and wireless charger will be added to the Longitude+ variant. There will also be a Black Shark Edition in limited variants.
The top-of-the-line Model S will continue to offer the 4X4 system with automatic transmission, and will now also come with a 4X2 automatic transmission option. All variants will feature new alloy wheel designs and a new chrome grille for the Limited and Model S trims.
Along with the assistance of the local police, the Delhi Transport Department has sent out up to 120 enforcement teams to put restrictions on the use of BS3 and BS4 diesel four-wheelers on city streets.
