Green Power creates an EV taxi joint venture with Jupiter Group in India.

Green Power Motor, a Canadian electric bus manufacturer, has formed a joint venture with the Jupiter Wagon Group (Jupiter) to deliver select Green Power all-electric vehicles to the Indian market.

Jupiter is India's leading maker of railway waggons, passenger coaches, waggon components, and castings, with clients including the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Shipping, Tata Motors, Vehicle Of Low Velocity Organization (VOLVO) Eicher Motors, Bharat Benz, and Avia Motors. Jupiter has manufacturing plants all throughout India.

Green Power, according to Brendan Riley, President, has partnered with Jupiter Wagon Group to introduce Green Power's Electric Vehicle (EV) Star Cab and Chassis (CC) to the Indian market.

"We are thrilled to be collaborating with Jupiter to homologate a Right-Hand-Drive (RHD)version of the car, which is already proven and popular in North America. Green Power and Jupiter both feel that this zero emission, battery electric platform is just what India needs to deliver both a clean air solution and a cost effective means to transport people and commodities. This agreement combines Green Power's established EV expertise with Jupiter Wagon Group's (JWL's) production and distribution capabilities," He said.

Green Power's EV Star Cab and Chassis Right Hand Drive (EV Star CC RHD) is a purpose built multi-utility zero emissions vehicle with a basic battery pack of 62.5 kWh and a range of 150 kilometers, or an optional battery pack of 118 kWh and a range of 250 kilometers.

Green Power's EV Star Cab and Chassis meets a wide range of mid and last mile delivery requirements while being a zero emission vehicle.

"We've recently opened our office in Hyderabad and are delighted to be working with Jupiter to exhibit the EV Star CC RHD to the Indian market, which is an unexplored market for medium and heavy duty all electric vehicles," said Priyankar Balekai, Vice President, Global Trucks for Green power.
