Which paperwork must be presented before purchasing a used car?

To fully transfer ownership of the vehicle into your name and drive it without any complications, you must take care of a few legal requirements. The collection of documents you must examine before purchasing a used car is provided below.

Certificate of Registration (RC) :
The most crucial paper to examine is the RC. It gives details such as the owner's name, the sort of vehicle, the chassis number, and the engine number. Verify that each of these corresponds to the number on the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) registration. This may be found on the front bumper of an older vehicle or even under the engine's bonnet on the driver's side.

Bill for the vehicle you bought :
It is merely to verify the invoice that the car's purchaser receives from the shop where the vehicle was purchased. It offers crucial details like the ex-showroom price and the date of buy. Ask for a sale receipt if you are purchasing from a solitary person.

No Objection Certificate (NOC) :
The majority of purchasers finance their vehicles. In this situation, the bank gives NOC a clearance document certifying that there are no outstanding loans on the vehicle.

Documents linked to services :
Always examine the car's service history, also referred to as the "blue book". It is used to examine the car's real operation and maintenance schedules.

Insurance :
The legislation requires that every vehicle be covered by insurance. It also discloses whether the vehicle was engaged in a serious collision. Verify that the car's insurance is current and arrange for a transition. Check the policy's features and exclusions as well.

RTO Forms 29, 30, 32, and 35 :
If the prior owner had taken out a loan, Form 32 and Form 35 are necessary. To determine whether the complete loan is paid off, request a copy of the NOC from the seller. If there is a balance owing, the bank will eventually request payment for the past-due debt.

The official notice of vehicle ownership is Form 29 .

The formal application stating that the title has been transferred is Form 30 .

Vehicle tax statement :
The prior owner of the car made the one-time payment. When it is first registered under the name of the initial owner, the RTO issues this receipt.

Proof of emissions :
The Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC), a paper that certifies the car's emissions are below the legal limit, is another name for it.
