Toyota Hilux was priced at Rs 33.99 lakh when it was released.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), which began reservations for the Hilux pick-up in January, has released prices for the three models, all of which are 4X4, that would be available in India. The base model will cost Rs 33.99 (ex-showroom) for the 4X4 Manual Transmission (MT) Standard, while the 4X4 MT High and 4X4 High automatic versions will cost Rs 35.80 and Rs 36.80, respectively. Toyota's facility in Bidadi, Karnataka, assembles the Hilux from Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kits. The car will compete against the Isuzu D-Max V cross.

The Hilux is supported by the same Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle (IMV) ladder-frame chassis as the Innova Crysta and the Fortuner. In addition, the pickup truck and the Fortuner in India share similar interior decor and switchgear. While the arrangement of the dashboard differs significantly from that of the Fortuner, the touchscreen, temperature controls panel, instrument cluster, steering wheel, and even the front seats are all similar.

Under the hood is a 2.8 Liter four cylinder turbo-diesel engine with a 6-speed automate transmission or 6-speed manual transmission.

The Hilux has been positioned as a lifestyle car aimed towards off-road enthusiasts. Ever since its inception, the sophisticated Hilux has succeeded to gain the adoration of consumers with good reaction, stated Tadashi Asazuma, Executive Vice President, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM).
