Traffic police issue 2,974 licenses.

In 2023, the Bengaluru Traffic Police, in adherence to proper procedures for drivers engaged in fatal road accidents and found to be recurrent violators of traffic regulations, took decisive action by impounding a total of 2,974 driving licenses. Following this, all confiscated licenses were forwarded for suspension to the respective regional transport offices within Bengaluru, as well as to offices in other districts of the state and in other states when necessary.

Among the impounded licenses, 711 have already undergone suspension, while the remaining licenses are currently undergoing the requisite procedures in the suspension process. The decision to recommend license suspension was based on individuals with a record of over 10 traffic violations and those implicated in fatal accidents, primarily involving drivers of four-wheelers within the age bracket of 18 to 45 years.

M N Anucheth, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), emphasized the necessity of taking such actions to promote road safety and curb repeat traffic offenses.
