GURGAON: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the city section of the Dwarka Expressway on March 11 beginning with a road show from Delhi as announced by Union minister and MP Rao Inderjit Singh on Saturday. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also confirmed the inauguration during an event on the same day while the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has not disclosed the expressway's opening date citing ongoing last-minute preparations.
The NHAI emphasized that final arrangements were underway before the formal launch of the expressway. Gurgaon MP stated that PM Modi's visit to Haryana would mark his second in a month unveiling development projects worth crores with the program's details being finalized. The completion of the expressway is expected to not only enhance the city's road infrastructure but also showcase overall development in the National Capital Region (NCR) benefiting residents.
Despite NHAI officials not receiving a final inauguration date from the Prime Minister's Office they affirmed readiness for the Gurgaon section highlighting ongoing efforts in beautification maintenance work and enhancements to the expressway's visibility and ambiance. The district administration gearing up for the inauguration saw visits from the deputy commissioner and commissioner of police to the expressway.
The 18.7km Gurgaon stretch of the expressway was completed last year but remained closed due to a pending safety audit by NHAI. The remaining 10km in Delhi is anticipated to take another five to six months for completion. Once inaugurated the expressway is poised to intersect key areas such as Harsaru Pataudi Road Farrukhnagar and Sector 88(B) enhancing connectivity for city residents. The expressway will link various sectors including 83 84 88 99 and 113 along with connecting the proposed Global City with Dwarka Sector 21 and the Indira Gandhi International airport.
