Lime has introduced the Gen4 seated e-scooter in its San Francisco and Chicago operations. The scooter, originally launched earlier this year, is designed to cater to the needs of elderly users with reduced physical mobility. Lime plans to expand Gen4 Seated to additional cities in the US, as well as Australia and New Zealand.

The launch of Gen4 Seated follows Lime's impressive financial performance, with half-year figures showing it generated $250 million in revenue from gross bookings for its vehicles. These H1 2023 results represent a 45% improvement compared to H1 2022. Lime is also in the process of preparing for a public listing of the company.

Lime envisions its new mobility solution, Gen4 Seated, as a way to make micromobility more accessible and comfortable. When combined with Lime's new storage compartment, it offers enhanced versatility. Lime recognizes that interior storage is an important factor in selecting micromobility rental vehicles. Access to Gen4 Seated is provided through the Lime app, similar to their existing fleet.

Market research conducted by Lime shows that the Gen4 Seated is particularly attractive to older users who may have felt left out by Lime's previous offerings. This scooter has larger wheels and a lower baseboard, which improves its center of gravity and overall safety during use. Additionally, the Gen4 Seated comes with a swappable battery setup, although specific details regarding its full performance capabilities have not been disclosed.
