2023 Hyundai i20 Facelift teased for India launch

Hyundai Motor India, the Indian subsidiary of South Korean automotive giant Hyundai, has announced the upcoming launch of the 2023 i20 facelift. Although the exact launch date is not mentioned in the image shared by the company, it is expected to arrive by the end of the month. The new model has already been launched in the Korean and European markets.

The announcement was made via Hyundai's official social media account, X (formerly Twitter), with an in-depth image of the model showing the subtle changes. New launch alert! The new Hyundai i20 is about to arrive in a new avatar. Notable changes include a new grille and all-LED headlights.

Although the recent teaser image doesn't show many details, the fully revealed photos from the Korean and European launches provide a clear picture of the changes. The facelifted i20 gets new all-LED headlights with single strip DRL at the top and an updated front grille with additional slots. The front bumper is more aggressive, with boomerang-shaped side curtains housing the fog lamps and a new sportier front splitter.

The main change on the side profile is a new set of diamond-cut alloy wheels. At the rear, there is an aggressive looking redesigned bumper, lower diffuser and silver skid plate. The rear taillights are fresh and have an aggressive Z-shaped design.

Inside the cabin, the layout remains the same as the outgoing model, but the facelifted i20 gets a new 10.25-inch TFT touchscreen infotainment system. Other features include automatic climate control, a four-spoke multi-function steering wheel and a wireless charger. Ventilated front seats and two-way dash cam (similar to the Hyundai Venue N-Line) are expected as new additions.

In terms of powertrain options, the i20 is now offered exclusively with petrol engines, as Hyundai has discontinued the diesel version. Available options include a 1.2-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 83 PS and a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 120 PS, both carried over from the previous model.
