The application intends to hasten the uptake of electric cars and reduce end customers' range concerns.

According to reports, the government is preparing to release a central app that would serve as a one-stop shop for data on the availability and placement of car charging stations. The software intends to reduce end customers' range anxiety and hasten the adoption of electric automobiles.

According to rumours, the government-owned Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) is gathering data from the private sector for the Super app. It will specify availability, charger kinds, and charging fees and enable users to make and modify reservations at nearby stations. It is expected to become online in the next 4 to 6 weeks.

Mahua Acharya, managing director of CESL, was cited as stating in a news article, "The app would reflect information supplied by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in addition to data on the network of public charging stations, boosting visibility and traffic at private charging points. Customers will feel more secure knowing they can easily access information and book reservations at neighbouring stations if they need to charge their cars while they are on the road."

He further noted, "We want a vast network of strategically placed charging stations that are secure, well-lit, well-covered, and where consumers can fill up their electric cars in under an hour. This will reduce the size of the battery, increase the affordability of electric cars, allay concerns about range, and hasten the adoption of e-vehicles, even for long-distance travel."

According to market sources, India now only has approximately 3000 Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations, or roughly six stations accessible for every 1000 EVs.
