The year-end introduction of the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650.

The Super Meteor 650 from Royal Enfield will come in two variations.

The widely awaited Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 made its international debut at the 2022 EICMA motorcycle expo in Italy after years of rumours and a flood of spy photos.

The Super Meteor is an outright cruiser that is built around the same base engine as the Interceptor and Continental GT 650 bikes, and it is far from a cosmetic upgrade on the current 650 cc models. It is a natural extension of the 650 cc motorcycle platform that made its debut with the Interceptor and Continental GT 650 bikes.

The Super Meteor 650 will probably be on display in India during the Royal Enfield Rider Mania event in Goa from November 18 to November 20. Before beginning deliveries around the end of the year, Royal Enfield may even reveal costs for it during the event.

Dimensions of the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 and its design and style

The Super Meteor 650 appears clearly Royal Enfield and like a natural extension of the Meteor 350 with its teardrop-shaped fuel tank, scooped-out rider's seat, twin-exhaust setup, and circular lighting components all around. This is confirmed by just one glance at the motorcycle.

A first for Royal Enfield, the Super Meteor's LED headlamp and new, black-finished engine cover give the motorcycle's core a somewhat different appearance from that of the Interceptor and Continental GT 650.

Even the chassis is different because it has a brand-new tubular steel frame that was created in collaboration with Harris Performance. This frame allowed Royal Enfield to modify the rider triangle appropriately, with the foot pegs being fully forward and the handlebars being pulled back to provide a more relaxed riding position.

The Super Meteor had a 1,500 mm wheelbase and a length of 2,269 mm. The fact that the seat is just 740 mm high is good news for shorter riders, but the ground clearance is only 135 mm, and it is unknown whether this will be the case with the India-spec vehicle.

The Super Meteor is the largest current Royal Enfield motorbike, weighing 241 kg (kerb), and its 15.7-liter fuel tank should provide it a good enough range for long-distance riding.

The Super Meteor 650 by Royal Enfield: The Powertrain, Suspension, and Features

The 650 cc parallel-twin engine that drives the Super Meteor 650 is essentially the same as the engine used in the company's other twin-cylinder bikes. Even its 47 horsepower and 52.6 Nm of torque are equal. Royal Enfield has modified it to function better in the low and midrange, though. The gearbox has six speeds as standard.

The Super Meteor 650's 43 mm upside-down fork and twin shock absorbers at the rear are both firsts for a Royal Enfield. Front wheels are 19-inch alloy wheels with 100/90-section tyres, while rear wheels are 16-inch alloy wheels with 150/80-section tyres.

Dual-channel ABS is standard, and a 320 mm front disc brake assists a 300 mm rear disc brake in stopping the vehicle.

The "Tripper" navigation pod, which is also standard, is located adjacent to the offset instrument cluster. The switch cubes' usage of aluminum is another Royal Enfield innovation.

Expected cost, variations, and competitors for the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650

Two variations of the Super Meteor will be available: regular and touring, with the latter including upgrades like a windscreen, luggage boxes, and a pillion backrest.

The Super Meteor 650's pricing range when it is introduced in the upcoming weeks is expected to be between Rs 3.60 lakh and Rs 3.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Super Meteor 650 won't have many competitors since the Benelli 502C, which is the bike that comes closest to it in terms of specs, is a whole different type of bike and is also quite expensive.
