Bajaj Auto is considering premium electric motorcycles.

On Tuesday, Bajaj Auto said that it and its Austrian luxury bike partner KTM are looking at platforms for high-end electric bikes.

The business added that it is expanding the reach of its Chetak electric scooter in a measured and balanced manner.

Rakesh Sharma, executive director of Bajaj Auto, responded to a question during the post-Q1 earnings media briefing by saying, "We are also in contact with KTM (and) there is a joint effort going on where we are looking at platforms for high-end electric bikes."

The proposal is "definitely on our radar screen," according to Sharma, and it will be publicized when it is appropriate.

He stated that Chetak electric scooter sales are anticipated to be higher than Q1, which saw 6,200 units sold as opposed to 300 units in the March quarter of the prior fiscal year.

Depending on the visibility of the supply chain, Sharma predicted that it will be nearly twice as high as Q1.

We are extremely careful in calibrating the increase of our regional footprint, in contrast to the business that is currently operating, he said.

Over 16,000 reservations have been made for the car as of right now, he claimed.

According to him, Bajaj Auto intends to expand the e-existing Chetak's availability to 100 cities from its current 27 locations.

He claimed that the holiday season last year was tolerable and that, barring inflation, this year should be about the same.
